We use it as calisthenics

Once we've done some stretching everyone (we only have 11 wrestlers this year) gets in a line and the first guy takes a wall shot then slides down the wall one section of the wall mat and takes another shot, then the next guy goes. It is a great way to get our blood flowing before practice. I've also seen a marked improvement in our takedowns since we started doing this we really are coming up more on our shots and not getting trapped underneath.

Good simple drill

I am an assistant coach for an AAU / USAW youth team. This is one of the most common problems I deal with in younger wrestlers, and one of my sons major weakness. I never thought of drilling takedowns against a wall and do not remember ever drilling them this way during my wrestling career. Thanks for a simple yet effective way to teach kids how to keep their heads up.
