Front Headlock on the Mat Knee position

At a clinic recently a coach suggested that the chin side knee should be on the mat when using the Front Headlock on the mat. I was always taught that you should be on your toes for better mobility. Any thoughts or opinions?

On the knee

i was taught to get on my toes. i was coached that it provided more pressure and ease of movement.

On the knee

It depends on what is happening and what is expected to happen. Being on that knee is not a bad thing. If you get in that position without a partner and act like you have a "front head lock", and then sit up you will see a common wrestling position. We call it our "power position". As wrestlers we are on that knee, elbows in, and head up for all kinds of doubles, single, HI-Cs, and front head locks.

This response is beyond late, and I just saw it. I hope this helps.
