Critique of the Week 11/18/09 PA High School

This Critique is of the wrestler wearing the BLUE singlet:

1.  This seems to be the only attack your looking for on your feet (you need to add other shots) but you need to tighten it up.  The only set-up you have for this shot seems to be baiting your opponent into you add set-ups to make it more offensive.  Please see following videos inside library: front headlock to fireman's carry and far arm dump, collar tie pull to sweep single leg, single leg series

2.    Add a solid level change fake to this single leg sweep it will open them up.  Please see following videos inside library: collar tie fake high crotch, triceps fake high crotch, fake to post

3.  When your opponent sprawls you need to maintain proper head, shoulder, and hip alignment you are coming up butt first and head down.  Please see following videos inside of library: under your opponent single leg positioning, under opponent drive up to outside head dump, under opponent drive up to explanation of finishes

4.  You are not using motion in your wrestling work on the following drills and make an effort to keep yourself in motion during practice and competition:  Please see the following videos inside of library: Shadow Wrestling Motion Drills

5.  Work on cutting across using your knee to help you on the finish of that single leg. Please see the following videos inside of library:  run the corner drive across

Bumping Up 9th Graders

I'm curious to hear your opinions on whether to bump up a freshman to the HS level. Obviously, there are some athletes were it's a no-brainer to do so. Personally, I think it's important for most wrestlers to have a successful 9th grade year at the JH level, so they can make a confident transition to HS their 10th grade year. Your thoughts?
